Shafuq Naseem (she/her) serves as a Health & Safety Advocate at the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME).
Before starting her role at AFSCME, she earned her B.A. in Government and International Politics at George Mason University in 2023. Her previous work experience includes the Senate H.E.L.P Committee, the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), the National Partnership for Women & Families, and more. At these organizations, she focused on numerous labor policy issues, such as paid leave and worker health and safety in various sectors, like healthcare.
During her undergraduate career, she was a Research Assistant through the Undergraduate Research Program (URAP) at the Schar School, where she researched laws addressing menstrual equity in the United States. As a former Gender and Policy Center (GAP) Leadership Award Recipient, she is honored to serve on the GAP Advisory Board.
